چکیده
Phased arrays of airborne ultrasound transducers are widely utilized as a key technology to achieve mid-air convergence intense ultrasound, which is applied variety systems, such contactless tactile presentation, acoustic-levitation and its application, mid-air-flow acceleration, etc. However, it requires considerably precise phase control with temporally severe synchronization between elements, leads difficulty in scaling up the entire system beyond tabletop size most current application systems. Here, we propose much simpler easier scaling-up method convergence, where binary amplitude mask that serves Fresnel Zone Plate (FZP) placed on planar in-phase sources. We experimentally demonstrate FZP-based focusing achieved spatial resolution comparable conventional methods, based use phase-controlled transducers. The foci created using FZPs sufficiently for scenarios currently practical use. also determine favorable side effects our suppressing grating lobes, inevitable phase-controlling method. sources both readily implemented inexpensive ingredients components. result study contributes upsizing dimensions convergent field successfully generated. Accordingly, unprecedented target room workspace will be possible.

Synthetic aperture ultrasound imaging.
The paper describes the use of synthetic aperture (SA) imaging in medical ultrasound. SA imaging is a radical break with today's commercial systems, where the image is acquired sequentially one image line at a time. This puts a strict limit on the frame rate and the possibility of acquiring a sufficient amount of data for high precision flow estimation. These constrictions can be lifted by empl...
متن کاملSynthetic Aperture Ultrasound Image Reconstruction
In this paper real data was used to test the utility of synthetic aperture (SA) ultrasound imaging to overcome the limitation of conventional ultrasound image which include decreasing the frame rate and single transmit focusing. The images are reconstructed by using different types of transmission and used to test the effect of signal to noise ratio (SNR). The results show that increasing the n...

where w [W/m] and c [m/s] are the sound intensity and the sound velocity, respectively. N is the number of the transducers used to form the array. A common airborne ultrasound transducer, which is used for the measurement of the distance or the detection of objects, can emit about 0.041 W of ultrasound in normal use. Hence, if th...

Ultrasound transmission tomography is presented as an imaging modality for breast cancer diagnosis. A 3D reconstruction technique is proposed for estimation of soundspeed images for the Karlsruhe 3D ultrasound transmission tomograph. The problems of sparse spatial distribution of ultrasound transducers and of low signal-to-noise ratio are approached using synthetic aperture focusing. The image ...
متن کاملA New Fourier-based Multistatic Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique for Intravascular Ultrasound Imaging
Abstracr Synthetic aperture processing yields an effective lateral r solution for intravascular ultrasound imaging. This processing is generally performed with time domain summation. In this paper, we derive a new synthetic aperture inversion method based on the Fourier domain. The analysis of the image formation shows that the frequency modulation of the PSF could be useful to improve the ...
